The University of Waikato International Progression Bursary (hereafter Award) was established in 2022, to promote educational opportunities, foster internationalisation and support talented international students to progress from undergraduate to postgraduate level for the first time at the University of Waikato.
Eligible students will be identified by the International Office who will forward details to the Scholarships Team. The award will be applied to tuition fees only and is not transferrable. All values are in NZD.
Aim and Benefits
The Award values are as follows:

$5,000 for those undertaking a 120-point programme of study;

$10,000 for those undertaking a 180-240 point programme of study, including those on a postgraduate pathway towards 180-240 point programmes of study.
Requirements
To be eligible for an offer of the bursary, students must:

Not be classified as a domestic student;

Be due to complete their undergraduate degree programme at the University of Waikato within the next six months.
To maintain eligibility and receive the bursary, recipients must:

Enrol full-time in a postgraduate programme of study in the next intake for that programme of study.

Remain enrolled full-time during the Award tenure.

Not have some or all of the tuition fees funded through another means by the University of Waikato.

Not be coming to the University of Waikato via a sponsoring body1.

Not be coming to the University of Waikato on a Guaranteed Credit Arrangement2, or through a study abroad or student exchange agreement.

Not be represented by an education agency at any point in the application or enrolment process, unless agreed otherwise with the International Office.

Maintain ‘international student’ status within the University’s student management system during the entire tenure of the award.
