CSIRO 2024-2025 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Machine Learning (Up to AU$105k)

CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. This CERC Fellow will contribute to the development of quantum machine learning algorithms for robotic systems and will work in a team consisting of robotic engineers and quantum computing experimentalists and theoreticians.

Your duties will include:

Carrying out innovative, impactful research on quantum machine learning (ML) and quantum inspired ML to improve robotic control that will lead to novel and important scientific outcomes.
Recognising and exploiting opportunities for innovation and the generation of new theoretical perspectives, and progressing opportunities for the further development or creation of new lines of research.
Utilising design thinking methodology to plan and prepare research proposals, and applying non-academic impact methodology to research projects.
Carrying out research investigations requiring originality, creativity and innovation.
Recording, managing, and analysing data/information using relevant domain data science techniques.

Salary: AU$96k - AU$105k plus up to 15.4% superannuation for specified term of 3 years

Requirements

To be considered you will need:

A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as physics or computer science. Please note: To be eligible for this role you must have no more than 3 years (full-time equivalent) of postdoctoral research experience.
Experience in one or some of the following areas: quantum machine learning, quantum computing, quantum algorithms, machine learning.
High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent the research team effectively internally and externally, including the presentation of research outcomes at national and international conferences.
A sound history of publication in peer reviewed journals and/or authorship of scientific papers, reports, grant applications or patents.
A record of science innovation and creativity, including the ability and willingness to incorporate novel ideas and approaches into scientific investigations.
